Quick edit: Contests will take a while longer to figure out. I suffered a pretty decent concussion earlier this week and this... well yeah, kind of put a stopper in things. I'm okay now, but yeah, it wasn't just some pointless delay because I couldn't be bothered or anything.
Just letting you know.

Yes, yes I know. You have the right to hit me right now, because that level of carelessness is hardly acceptable. Anyhow, let's get some things done around here, eh? Here are the orders of business:
The Folder Fiasco
It has become quite apparent - to those of you who write poetry, especially - that one folder cannot hold the lot. To combat this, DreamhazeMaster has now split poetry into a number of genres, which you can see descriptions of at thescribblists.deviantart.com/…. What I have also noticed is that stuff like "Poetry 1" "Poetry 2" etc. is just too messy. So how would everyone feel if I deleted those folders, and you would all be free to resubmit to the new poetry folders? I think it will really contribute to the cleanliness of the gallery.
Furthermore, what would be your opinion if I did the same for Fictitious Works?
All other folders shall remain unchanged.
Moderation
If you want to be given a small job around the group, I will be happy to make you a contributor. Anything to make my far-too-busy life easier will be more than appreciated - from patrolling galleries to holding contests. Also, any of the old contributors; if you wish to opt-out that's fine too, just let me now. With the restructuring of the group I wish to make sure I know what everyone's role is.
Submission Restrictions
You are still only bound by deviantART's terms of service, and the requirement that your work is written. If it complies with that, then you can submit to the group under the relevant folder. Due to the sheer volume of submissions, moderation is nearly impossible without a varied team of people willing to read anything and everything... so we will continue to automatically accept new material.
Overdue Contests
Due to the unforeseen deactivation of fictionalnostalgia's account, there has been a lengthy delay with the most recent contest. This will be sorted out before the new year. Likewise, a very old contest that ran earlier this year never had its winner selected and prizes awarded. The prize will have to wait until I get my next pay and the money finishes transferring through PayPal, but the winners shall be selected before Christmas Day as well.
An Ending Note
Yes, you still have the right to hit me, chastise me, yell at me, whatever. I've been a terrible admin over the past many months and this restructuring is both an effort to redeem myself as well as a wish to restore order.
It's sort of funny, you know. When I started this group - just after the groups platform was released, actually - I had no idea it would explode, so to speak. I thought it would be this quiet little thing that only a few people paid attention to. Nevertheless, here we are today...
Ah well, I hope this is good news for you lot. Please feel free to make more suggestions in the comments; I am happy to consider all of them. Also, if you would like to be a contributor, now's the time to ask.

JUNE CONTEST RESULTS!
RESULTS!
So, after about six solid straight hours of reading and deliberating your entries, I've finally come to a (very strangled) conclusion. As I was watching the entries come though last month I already realised this would be an extremely difficult one to pick, as many of you are fantastic well-rounded writers in your own right. I never expected the quality of so many of these stories to be so good, so give yourself a pat on the back for making my life as a contest judge horribly difficult. ;P
In the end I came to three standouts, who on the whole each did a marvelous job. I couldn't possibly demote any to third place (which has no prize
Feb Contest Closed! Winners and Voting for Crowd
Aaaand, the winners have been decided! Incidentally, we seem to have had a record number of people totally ignoring/misunderstanding the requirements of this contest and as a result, we have only had three qualifying entrants. ^^; Either way, congratulations to the following people! :w00t: The three of you deserve a great pat on the back, it was a lovely display of poetry all-round.

Genre Specific Folders for Fiction/Poetry
EDIT:
Okay, with the removal of those folders, all work assigned to them has been automatically removed from the group, and if your work has been affected you will need to resubmit to one of the relevant new folders. All are fully active and ready to receive submissions from members.
I will reiterate, since there may be an initial flood of resubmissions you may wish to hold off submitting your work over the next few days, so we can stagger this out and help improve visibility of submitted work. I'm also putting the cut-off at 2 per folder per day for the next week, just to help this staggering along. The cut-off will be removed afterwards, h
NEW POETRY FOLDERS
As of now, Poetry can be sorted into one of seven folders!
Here's a list of the new folders and a short description of what should appear in them.
Speculative - Dark/Supernatural/Horror
Narrative - Tells a story
Lyrical - Rhymes or has a rhythm
Prose - Tells a story through monologue or rhyme
Mournful - Sad
Satire - Makes fun of the topic
Dramatic - Tells a story with a moral
Please make an educated choice when submitting! If you're not sure ask another for advice or one of the admin.
