Aaaand, the winners have been decided! Incidentally, we seem to have had a record number of people totally ignoring/misunderstanding the requirements of this contest and as a result, we have only had three qualifying entrants. Either way, congratulations to the following people! The three of you deserve a great pat on the back, it was a lovely display of poetry all-round.

Now that the main part of the contest is over, it's time to vote for the crowd favourite. Tell me which of the above three in your comments is your favourite, and the entry with the most overall votes will receive the secret crowd-favourite prize!
Thanks everyone for participating and once again congrats! I hope you enjoy your prizes!

EXTENSION/LAST REMINDER
Hello people, due to a) my swearing that the contest folder was open to the public when it was not, b) my late last reminder that the competition was coming up, and c) my silly notion that there was a 29th of February this year, the contest has been extended until the 11:59PM (GMT) on the 5th of March. Please have your submissions in by then!
Peace, love and other various happy things,

Greetings chaps! Firstly a quick advert for those who may be interested: The 27th Southern California Writers' Conference is on from February 15 - 18, and some of you may be within a good proximity and will want to attend. For more info, please visit writersconference.com/sd. You have AmandaDaire to thank for alerting me to its existence.
---~ FEBRUARY CONTEST: TYPOGRAPHIC HAIKU ~---
Here's something a bit more interesting than usual. The goal of this contest is to create a series of three haiku, presented visually as one typographic picture. You will be judged on a number of criteria, and the highest scoring participants will win.
Now, I know many of you aren't graphically or artistically inclined, which is why in this contest you're allowed to enter as a team of two: one must write the haikus, the other must implement it in typographical form. If you wish, of course, you may enter without a partner, and the prize need not be split between two people should you win. Here's a run-down of the contest.
Deadline:
February 28, 11:59PM GMT
Form:
Three haikus. They can rhyme or flow however you like, however clever usage of the syllable limits for each line will garner extra points. Think about what you're writing and how it sounds. All three haikus must be contained within the same picture!
Prompt:
Absolutely none!
Number of Participants Per Entry:
1 or 2.
Number of Times a Person Can Enter:
Just 1!
Judging Criteria:
Is it in the correct form?
Is the subject matter unique or unusual?
Does the poetry flow?
Overall talent (writing).
Is the poetry visually presented in a graphically interesting or clever way? How relevant is it to the poetry?
Has time and effort obviously been invested in creating the visual aspect of this work?
Is the graphic free of mistakes?
Overall talent (graphics).
PRIZES! (if the entry contains two participants, these will be split between the partners)
1st Place: 6-Month Premium Membership (or point-value equivalent)
2nd Place: 400 points.
3rd Place: 100 points.
Crowd Favourite: A Surprise Gift!
I know this is a bit of an odd way of doing things, but I'm interested to see what people are going to come up with. Just so we're 100% solid about what I'm looking for, use the following as an example. Yours can be as stark or complicated as you like, but as I said before, those with obvious amount of time and effort will garner higher scores.
Feel free to find a buddy to do this contest with in the comments below, or to seek them out from outside the club. To submit, please add your work to the FEB 2013 CONTEST folder, which will be open for submission shortly. If you created the work with another person, please leave a comment about who it was in the deviation description.
Good luck, all!

JUNE CONTEST RESULTS!
RESULTS!
So, after about six solid straight hours of reading and deliberating your entries, I've finally come to a (very strangled) conclusion. As I was watching the entries come though last month I already realised this would be an extremely difficult one to pick, as many of you are fantastic well-rounded writers in your own right. I never expected the quality of so many of these stories to be so good, so give yourself a pat on the back for making my life as a contest judge horribly difficult. ;P
In the end I came to three standouts, who on the whole each did a marvelous job. I couldn't possibly demote any to third place (which has no prize
Genre Specific Folders for Fiction/Poetry
EDIT:
Okay, with the removal of those folders, all work assigned to them has been automatically removed from the group, and if your work has been affected you will need to resubmit to one of the relevant new folders. All are fully active and ready to receive submissions from members.
I will reiterate, since there may be an initial flood of resubmissions you may wish to hold off submitting your work over the next few days, so we can stagger this out and help improve visibility of submitted work. I'm also putting the cut-off at 2 per folder per day for the next week, just to help this staggering along. The cut-off will be removed afterwards, h
VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE. Also, I'm still alive.
Quick edit: Contests will take a while longer to figure out. I suffered a pretty decent concussion earlier this week and this... well yeah, kind of put a stopper in things. I'm okay now, but yeah, it wasn't just some pointless delay because I couldn't be bothered or anything.
Just letting you know. :)

Yes, yes I know. You have the right to hit me right now, because that level of carelessness is hardly acceptable. Anyhow, let's get some things done around here, eh? Here are the orders of business:
